The Hong Kong Sports Institute and Penfold Park have been converted into the core venue for Dressage and Jumping. Dressage is often called "horses performing ballet". The horse is required to perform set movements as well as freestyle to music, and the winner is decided on the obedience of the horse, as well as balance, suppleness and precision of the movements.

The Cross-Country test will be staged in the converted facilities at the Hong Kong Jockey Beas River Country Club and the adjacent Hong Kong Golf Club, in Sheung Shui.     In Cross-Country, the horse is required to complete a set course within a set time, clearing a series of solid obstacles.

In Jumping, the horse is required to clear a series of obstacles in a set order, and competitors are aiming to incur a minimum number of penalties within a set time.
